Marketing Study
A number of years ago I decided that I needed to learn more about how to market our product. I purchased and was reading a
marketing text book. Much of what I was reading was not what I had learned worked for us at Goodies. We tend to do things differently than the typical business. I almost quit reading the book and then
got to a chapter
discussing the emotional aspect of products. That is when it clicked for me. Yes, we sell many different chocolates, caramels, etc. but what were we really selling? It is the giant smile that you experience with our product.
We see it every day. The minute customers come in the door
they feel happy and usually have this big grin on their faces. When does this grin form? Is it when they walk through the door? Turn in the driveway? Make that decision to come to
Goodies? This gleeful feeling is so powerful it also impacts our staff. Who would not enjoy their job of making candies and waiting on very happy customers? It is literally the “Kid in the
Candy Store” feeling.
Once I learned this marketing lesson I knew that the formula was fairly simple. Continue making as great of a product as
we can and take wonderful care of our customers’ needs.
The picture on the home page is of our current year round staff happily doing
their jobs. Goodies => Smiles means that where there are Goodies there are Smiles.
Busy Busy
We are so lucky to have such a popular business. When we first opened
over 26 years ago some people thought we would never survive. Now I would consider us one of a number of must stop destinations in the Iowa
Great Lakes. Goodies is a fine example of the “American Dream”. Come up with a good idea, work hard, and you can become a success. Having fun coming to work every day is a fantastic bonus.
Thank you all so much for being such good customers. We are busily
preparing for the upcoming Christmas season. Supplies are arriving and extra help is being trained. Please be sure to call if you have any questions or special needs.
End of a Tradition
We are sorry to announce that we will no longer be offering tins as a packaging
choice for our Goodies. Our supplier discontinued making tin containers and we are not able to find a new supplier. We do have beautiful holiday boxes. Some
people would say “It’s what’s inside that really counts.”
There is a limited supply of the previous season’s tins. If you have an interest please contact us immediately .
We will continue to look for alternative packaging ideas to help continue with Goodies => Smiles.
